Cardiovascular Fitness

 

Things you should know about cardiovascular fitness. This term refers to the ability of the heart, lungs and circulatory system to take in oxygen, transport it through the body and use that oxygen so that the muscles you are working on have an adequate supply.

Having good cardiovascular fitness will enable the lungs to draw in more oxygen from the air and boost its uptake into the bloodstream. It increase the ability of the muscles to utilise oxygen. In other words, it is the body's ability to take in, transport and utilise oxygen naturally.

 

Cardiovascular exercise represents any activity involving rhythmic, continuos movements using large muscle groups under a moderate to low tension level over an extended period of time. There are many different types of cardio exercises which will be explained in more detail, and many day to day sports that are cardio based like walking, swimming, cycling and jogging.
